8-station progressive die for a U-channel part in 1.5 mm sheet steel: 63 mm strip, 40 mm pitch, piercing, trimming, three bends and cut-off. Rotate the animated 3D model right on this page.

  • Eight stations in sequence: pilot-hole piercing, three piercing and trimming stations that shape the blank (leaving a centre carrier), an up-bend, two down-bends, then cut-off; the part slides out down the chute.
  • 1.5 mm steel strip, 63 mm wide, 40 mm pitch; six Ø5 pilots locate the strip every stroke. The animated 3D model shows the die opening and closing, the strip lift and the feed in one cycle.
  • A stripper hung on 10 shoulder bolts and 10 heavy-load Ø27 × 65 springs clamps the strip flat before cutting and bending and strips it off the punches as the die opens.
  • Spring lifters raise the strip 10.5 mm so the formed features clear the lower bending block during the feed; the down-bent flanges slide along the guide land of the bending die.
  • Guided by 4 ball-bush pillar sets Ø20; with the recommended 40 mm press stroke the pillars stay at least 30 mm inside their bushes throughout the cycle.
  • Punches, bending inserts and die blocks in SKD11 tool steel hardened to 58–62 HRC; shoes, punch holder and stripper in S50C to keep cost down; standard screws, dowels, pillars, bushes and springs.
