Progressive dies are well suited to forming a part through multiple stations along a material strip. When considering a solution for automotive components, the product requirements, material properties and press conditions should be treated as one problem rather than simply comparing die prices.
Factors that determine the die design
Station layout, strip pitch and locating must be considered based on the part geometry. Holes, cut edges and bend areas each need their own requirements defined. Stock material, thickness, mechanical properties and feed direction affect the choice of construction and the operating conditions of the die.
Agree before ordering
The drawing, product sample, press conditions, target production volume and acceptance criteria need to be confirmed. The scope of die tryout, adjustment and maintenance instructions should be clearly stated in the proposal. The output rate and die life that apply to each order must be tied to the agreed configuration and operating conditions.
Send the part drawing, stamping material, thickness, production volume and details of your existing press so ZINITEK can discuss the die approach and the items to include in the quote.
