Pneumatic Fixture for Pressing Terminals into Bobbins

A pneumatic fixture that presses terminals into bobbins, replacing heavy manual plier work so operators work with less effort and productivity at the assembly step improves.

Pneumatic Fixture for Pressing Terminals into Bobbins

The difficulty of pressing terminals by hand

Before the fixture was introduced, operators had to use pliers to press terminals into bobbins. The parts have a tight fit and require considerable force; squeezing pliers over and over made the task strenuous and hard to sustain for a full shift. The challenge was not just to press the parts in, but also to reduce physical effort and improve productivity at the assembly step.

Fixture layout for the assembly step

The fixture uses a pneumatic mechanism to perform the pressing operation. Two slots on either side hold the two terminals, and the bobbin is placed in the middle. This layout locates the parts before the pressing mechanism actuates.

Operating sequence

The operator places the two terminals in the side slots, places the bobbin in the center position, then presses a button for the pneumatic mechanism to perform the pressing operation. Instead of squeezing pliers for every part, the operator focuses on loading and unloading. The machine supplies the pressing force, making the work lighter and improving productivity. Parts are still loaded by the operator.

Less strenuous work, better productivity

The value of the fixture lies in replacing hand-squeezing force with the pressing force of a pneumatic mechanism. Operators no longer have to repeat a heavy plier squeeze for every bobbin, which reduces the physical burden and makes continuous assembly easier. The two terminal positions and the central bobbin position keep the step clearly organized, helping to improve productivity.

Designed around the parts to be assembled

For a different product, the terminal positions, bobbin shape and assembly requirements need to be reviewed separately. The fixture design should be checked against the drawing or an actual sample, rather than reusing one product's mechanism for every type of part.

Discuss your press-fit fixture needs

Struggling with a manual press-fit assembly step? Provide photos or video of the current operation, a drawing or sample of the part, and the assembly requirements so ZINITEK can discuss a suitable solution. If you have CAD data, you can send the native format or an available exchange format so we can check whether it can be imported.
